Introduction

The object of this particular coating is to find a valid solution to the problems of adhesion and corrosion resistance in the different post-treatment already existent.

The crystalcoating guarantees a considerable increase in corrosion resistance, compared to base substrate and possible chemical nickel plating, and an excellent capability to bond with various metal substrates.

A further advantage of this type of coating is the capability to selectively modify the characteristics of the coating that you want to improve; in fact, by adding cathode or anode inhibitors, coloring or nanoparticles is possible influence a technical or an esthetic specification.

The theoretical fundamental point can be summarized in two key reactions: hydrolysis, in the case of acid catalysis, and condensation, where bases are used as catalysts. It is essential to know accurately the parameters of these reactions to ensure optimal coating.

This application is technologically simple, but its effectiveness is a function of many variables, not yet fully known and difficult to interpret.

Reactivity

The crystalcoating doesn’t contain organic solvents and doesn’t release alcohol during the hydrolysis contrary.

This type of coating binds chemically to the metal base ensuring a high scratch resistance, excellent hardness and good adhesion to thicknesses less than 2 m of deposit.
